Great atmosphere and delicious sushi, filled with localsThis is easily the best sushi experience I've ever had. I went here in early April 2017 with my girlfriend (we're both Norwegian), but we felt like we fit right in despite almost everyone in the restaurant being locals.We were able to order our sushi and drinks in English with no trouble, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We even got to speak to a few locals, some of whom offered us hot sake!The food is fairly cheap, especially considering the quality of the restaurant and sushi.If you're staying in Kyoto and like having a good time (with sushi), you have to try Genpachi Sushi. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Kyoto!

I meet with friends this lovely spot many times a year! This is the best place to have a bite. I visit this spot at least once a month. The meals are of high quality, the team is friendly and the prices are decent. I enjoy eating in this spot for a rich meal.

Great late night place

Made reservations. Was really looking forward to trying this place! Waitress was rude and abrupt. Would not give us sushi bar seats. If you are going to make people reserve a specific location you should tell the on the phone when the reservation is made. Worst waitress I have spoken to in years. Jinpachi lost tonight’s business and any future business from us. Avoid this place considering it’s LA and there are plenty of better choices.

Came here for birthday. Great fish, very food service. Small, hole in the wall feel. Very cozy. Had the omakase and enjoyed every offering. Foie gras sushi was very unique and delicious. Hard when you just get back from Tokyo to truly compare any place. Attention to detail at a whole other level in Tokyo but very good here. About $130 each and would definitely come back. The wasabi was a little overwhelming for me but everything else was great. Highly recommended.

Great place for sushiThey seemed a bit in the weeds when I came but the sushi was good and the price was reasonable. The sushi is better than the kitchen food so I'd order mainly from the sushi bar.

Very cool place to go for Holoween. lots of music and food venders. Great time if you to dress up for the occasion and can handle large crowds.

Worst service experience ever...Showed up for our reservation and the hostess sat us at the bar, everything was going fine until in the middle of our meal when the hostess made us move to a table!! She rudely insisted that we give up our seats for another set of customers! I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant and it's not like we had been taking long to eat either.Obviously we won't be going back which is unfortunate since we live in the neighborhood and would eat here from time to time.Fish is generally decent, but certainly not the best LA has to offer.

lunch special is great value for high quality sushi and novel carpaccio. i'd stick to the sushi special and maybe the crispy tuna. nice nice pieces. mostly authentic, some flare, and not hard to get a seat at lunch.
